Hello friends,
I have a 2.0L AT Sedan, This has been bugging me, when I let go the gas at acceleration the AT holds the gear at higher rpm only up shifting after a couple of good seconds.
Is this normal function of the Mazda AT ?
Many thanks

Yes perfectly normal
If you're asking the car to accelerate it will downshift and hold higher RPMs
it'll stay there for a bit in case you wish to keep driving spiritedly
Once the car see's you're not accelerating anymore it will upshift

The owner's manual says the automatic transmission will hold a higher-revs if it detects cornering and harder acceleration and hold it for spirited driving.

I agree that unless your asking for alot of power it becomes annoying , but my gods if your trying to pass people thru lanes it just works.
