Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone have tried any of the DIY chrome things for the grille? I found this website, but also found lots on Ebay and Aliexpress etc: Mazda 3 Chrome Grill, Custom Grille, Grill inserts, Chrome Grille

If you have, what are your thoughts on them?

In my opinion, that's just too much chrome. But I like the higher quality construction of that item, as these sorts of things tend to be limited to aliexpress and the likes.
By all means, if you like it go for it!

^ How did you find the installation? I was interested in the above (just the singular chrome piece), but too much chrome looks god awful and tacky.

bought the ebay full piece chrome set in March 17 and it was easy to install..i mean really easy ! I think it brought the elegance quotient up a little higher than just the glossy black grill that was there...

disagree on it having too much chrome... tried first with just the singular chrome piece (since I got the set, that's the first step I took to see---and that also looked all right, but the full set made it look better to me on my '17 white gt hatch.

I bought the set that I linked in the first post but I haven't received it yet (it'll probably take at least another week or more). We'll see how it looks when I install them, will of course start with the upper part first. I don't think it'll look tacky though since the highest equipment tier has the grille in chrome from factory. At least in Sweden (so I'm guessing rest of Europe as well). Unless, of course, the pieces themselves looks bad, but I won't know that until I get them.

Depends on the color of car. I kinda like the look against the red paint. However, I'm not sure how nice the additional chrome would look with my Deep Crystal Blue paint, I think it might be too contrasty/ clashing.
