I just noticed that my 5 door GT with bose/moonroof has a built-in wind deflector that pops up when the sunroof is opened. Its probably not quite as effective as an aftermarket one as it doesn't go quite as high but its effective enough for me not to get an aftermarket one. If you want to see how much of a difference it makes, drive 40+ with the sunroof open and all other windows closed, then lift your right hand up (steering with the other hand, of course) and push the deflector down to its retracted position- the cabin will start to resonate.

Actually, I never noticed that there are any moonroof cars without the little popup deflector. You're right, it makes a terrible rapid pressure changing sound without it (which is probably why all the cars I've owned with a moonroof always had one.

Are there cars that have factory moonroofs without a deflector?

I personally like the Mazda deflectors because they are silver which looks nice when the moonroof is open. The only problem is that they cause more wind noise than is needed.
