So how about doing an Alberta Mazda meet? Seems to be a few of us on here from Calgary and Edmonton area. We could pick somewhere central like Red Deer or Innisfail? Thoughts? and how many would be interested?

Yeah it'd have to be in July as I'm booked up for June as well. The meets are huge right now on Wednesday's at chinook. There's been a few mazda's at them now, lots of speed3's. Look forward to meeting you.
Hopefully can get some more interested and set up a curise/meet.

At the meet this past wednesday we actually had 6 mazda's 3 MZ3's and 3 MS3's. It was great to meet and hang out with other mazda owners...finally.

That's too bad...so far it's been really good here getting in with the locals car people, most are pretty good and want to know about your ride. Of course it helps to have people with the same car who you can talk with about what they have done and show off yours. Especially when you start talking Corksport since they only make parts for Mazda's. You just can't have the same conversaton with an EVO owner.

Have you checked out Beyond.ca I'm pretty sure we have some members from Edmonton. We have a cruise this weekend, 21st on hwy 40 from Calgary to Longview!!

Are you meaning the cruise this weekend? If so come on out!!! Here's the details...
Hey guys, so the itinerary is as follows.
The weather here looks quite promising. Since June 21st is by far the preferred day, we'll do this then.

-at 11 or so am on Saturday June 21st, we'll all meet at the Petrocan, on highway 1, right at the Cochrane turn off (I think everybody knows where that is, as surely they've driven past it at some point). Get gas here, or at LEAST have 3/4 of a tank of gas, there is only one gas station until you get to Longview, and its quite close to the Kananaskis lodge, so there will be about a 1hr stretch with no gas stations. If you run out of gas anywhere here, you're pretty much screwed as there is no cell phone coverage on this highway. In the event I take my car for this, I'll keep a jerry can of gas for anybody that needs it just in case, along with all my tools in the event of a break down.
-we'll wait until 11:30-11:45 for the last people to show up, then leave by 11:45.
It takes about an hour, perhaps two depending on how many stops we take) to get to Longview. Usually about an hour and a half is a good bet.

^ Basically its that. only we'll continue on highway 40 until we get to Longview, then from Longview, through Black Diamond then back into Calgary via Okotoks.
I cant get the full route we're planning on taking, since its Sunday, and IIRC that highway doesn't open until tomorrow, so with it being closed due to the floods, I cant get the page to properly show our route. What Im going to do is call the Barrier lake tourism and info center tomorrow and confirm that it is in fact open. If it is, we're good to go.
I dont know if you guys remember that thread about Marv's soda shop in Black Diamond.

But we'll stop here for a late lunch, early supper. The food here is great, and it'll be a big plus to help out this hurting business with our support. Parking there is a bit of a bitch, so we'll have to figure it out as we go.

^ We'll likely arrive back here at 1:30-2pm. There is also that Long view Beef Jerky shop in Longview (our first town back after highway 40) and thats always a wicked place to get some eats, its deliciously good jerky.

Yeah you did my bad, it got changed from Canmore to a cruise to Longview which is not really that far away. It's a much better drive than the #1 highway. We are still driving from the Petro to the #40 turnoff on highway #1.
Still let me know if your driving through...I'm camping in Kananaskis this weekend and will have my MZ3 with me. We could always meet up!!

I'm nearly positive I'll be in Calgary Saturday morning. Not sure yet if I'll end up going on the cruise or heading up to jasper.

Well if you do decide to join the cruise you know where we are meeting and at what time. I'm the only MZ3 so I'm easy to find besides the Miata that's coming. Even if you just stop by the staging area would be cool to meet.
Jasper is a really nice drive too...you gonna do the new glacier skywalk? Looks pretty cool.

I'll try and get to the start of the cruise.
I may do the skywalk. I've heard it's a hassle and kind of expensive. Really depends on how busy it is and what time I'm there.

It was so nice to meet you and see your car in person!! Too bad it was chilly standing there. Luckily it totally cleared up and we had a great day!! Hope your drive went well. We managed to burn up hwy 40 doing 140Km/hr for quite a stretch...was a blast!!!

It was good to meet you too. I had a great drive. It rained quite a lot for about 10 minutes near Canmore then it was beautiful the rest of the drive. I had all my windows open the drive through the mountains. I'm really happy I made the trip.

Yeah we hit the downpour just before the hwy 40 turnoff...the poor Miata's had thier tops down and the guy on the bike got wet. I was sure happy to have a roof at that point...they looked freezing.
