Please allow me if this had been discussed before, or this is not the right place. I cannot seem to find an answer.

If you change the order of the audio source, would it change the default audio source?

It is currently FM radio and when I start the car without holding up the phone to USB, FM radio always starts.
I like Bluetooth to take the priority.

Thanks,
Yushi

If this is not the right place to ask, please point me to the right direction.

I have 70.00.100 and Speedometer.
If I have OEM Fuel Economy Monitor on screen when I shut down the car (stop the engine), when I restart the car it comes back to it.
In case of Speedometer on screen when I stop the engine, the home screen comes back when I restart the car, not Speedometer.

Is this the way it is supposed to be?
Or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Yushi

The system does not know about the existence of the Speedometer app so when it sees that the last screen was speedometer it defaults to the home screen. There might be a workaround for this but I don't really have much time to find it. I tried a few times to figure it out in the past but was unsuccessful.

Thanks Trezdog44.
Makes a lot of sense.
I thought I may have messed up something.
Thanks again.

Hello,

I wanted to make the bar on the left on Bar Speedometer indicate the rev, rather than speed BY DEFAULT.

I thought this would do, but it did not seem to have.

After manually editing these two values in the config file to ‘true’, it seems to have.

Was I missing something?

Thanks,
Yushi

To test your serial interface, connect its Tx directly to its own Rx and see if you can get the echo back on your terminal.

I seem to remember I had to install the driver manually, too.

As for connection, I was looking at the original picture and mistook the Rx & Tx. “--“ means connection, not “=“.

Hi everyone, I'm trying to establish a serial connection to the CMU but putty is just showing a blank terminal. It says in the guide that text should be scrolling even if my car is off. I've checked the wiring a couple dozen times by now and I feel like its correct. The CP2102 is only showing a solid red on "ground" and I can't get anything else to happen. Any help is appreciated.

Did you see the text flying by?
If you did, you probably couldn’t see the prompt even if the unit shows it, because it just scrolls away from whatever you can see.

As for connection, how are you grounding?

Also, to clarify, the guide says the CMU should prompt for login - does that happen on the headunit display or within the console? Either way, I tried typing the username + return, password + return, then "reboot" + return like issam suggested and nothing happened. Also when I put the flash drive in, does it matter into what port?

If you see text flying by, you won’t see the prompt or whatever you are typing.
What made you think that Tx wasn’t working?

BTW, I can’t seem to see the pic.

Yeah I saw the text fly by the two times I got it to work, both times I tried to rewire because the TX didn't seem to work.

I'm grounding under a screw. Here's a Pic of my setup. Note in the Pic I'm using a usb extension cable but I'm getting the same results even if I don't use it.

The link for the pic still doesn’t work.
I don’t know enough of Linux, so I need to leave that to other experts.

Here's another attempt with the pic:
Like I said before, I tried sending the reboot command but didn't see anything happen. I assumed that would be a sure way to know if it was working. Is there another good way?

I’m glad it worked out!!

I bought a few of these (https://www.hi-1000ec.com/product/1302 , but from a vendor in Japan; I believe it is the same thing) and made the connection permanent. I velcro’ed the connectorized end in the passenger’s footwell so that I can connect through serial later. I guess it has the benefit of reliable connection, too :)

Well after spending far-too-many hours on it I finally figured it out - the ends of my jumper wires weren't long enough. I'm surprised that was the case since they did go in about an inch, but I ended up just using a cut strand of some bare copper wire instead of a jumper and it worked great. Thanks for working with me for this long :)

Guys, I dropped the bolt that secures the display unit into the dashboard while attempting to make a serial connection.
I'm now looking for a replacement. Can someone help me with the dimensions and size of this bolt? I'm in the US and I think I can find something similar in Home Depot but I have no idea of the dimensions of the bolt.
Sorry that it happen to you.

I think it was 10mm socket to be used, so I suppose it was an M6 bolt. Length, I’m sorry I don’t remember. 10-15mm length is probably a good bet.

Hello,

On Speedometer, I am trying to display Engine Load on a 2019 MX-5, which should be between 0 and 1. It currently displays only 0 or 1, nothing else.
The version of CMU is 70.00.335 NA N, with MZD-AIO 2.8.6.

I experimented some, and want to report the result here, hoping that someone would know what to do.
(I am not familiar with Java Script (or shell commands for that matter), so I am taking a lot of guesses. I am a C person, not even C++.)

First, I changed the line in speedometer.js declaring the variable to
var lastEngineLoadValue = 0.0;
thinking that the variable may now be defined as a floating point number (not integer). -- It made no difference.

Next I changed the function updateEngneLoad in the same file.
engineLoadVal = $.trim(engineLoadVal) * 100;
thinking that it may become value between 0 and 100, and even if the display format is just integer, it may give numbers in between. -- It just displayed 0 and 100, and nothing in between.

It appears that "ENGLOAD=smdb-read -n vdm_vdt_current_data -e EngineLoad" in the while loop in speedometer.sh is not reading the data properly. It is not constantly 0, sometimes becomes 1, so it is reading something.

As I mentioned, I am not familiar with JavaScript or shell commands so I have not been able to do any further now.
If you need any experimentation, please let me know. I have the serial connection cable permanently left on the car.

Thanks,
Yushi

But it seems that my CX3 (2016) wont see my USB. I have been wating several minutes, but nothing happens.
Ignore. I did not read the later posts.

----
Someone used a large capacity stick (I don't know how big it was) and saw the same behavior as you did.
As soon as he changed it to smaller capacity (again, I don't know how small it was), it worked right away.
I use 2GB to 8GB sticks for this purpose, and never had problems.

Looks like CMU does not recognize really big sticks.
I leave 32GB stick with my music library in my car, so it recognizes at least as large as 32GB.
I never tried anything bigger. Someone here should have better knowledge on that.
