SOO just checking to see if anyone has installed aftermarket OEM fit fog lights with an after market Toggle switch vs using the OEM switch?

i didn't realize it was prewired... until i popped the bezel off. kinda wanna make em operational instead of waiting for an OEM switch.. and this way i can have them on when i want vs having to have my headlights on.

if you have installed the toggle switch where did you put it?

I installed aftermarket fog lights with a switch in the cabin on my '15. I placed the switch beneath the steering wheel way down to the left. There are some steel structures all along the lower dash that are in the way. I was able to fit the switch by careful placement.

However, since I use the fogs all the time as daylight driving lights, I installed a set of LED bulbs in the lamps. I have the fog lights wired to go "on" with the ignition switch. Because I use them all the time as DRLs, I could have eliminated the manual switch altogether.

The LED bulbs I bought from Amazon fit the fog lights' H8 sockets perfectly and are rated at only 8 watts each, so the are quite fuel-efficient to run all the time. Just like the original fog lights with 55 watt bulbs, they aren't very useful as actual fog lights, but they do make good daylight running lights.

I pulled the fuse for the factory DRLs to avoid bulb problems with the factory design on my '15.

I installed the yellow spyder fog lights on my 16 mz3 using the oem hook up. Not knowing prior that the oem switch inside the car did NOT have the fog light option . So I called my dealer and they ordered me an aftermarket switch with fog option to replace the oem switch (easy install). Still confused as to why mazda would wire the car for fogs but not have the appropriate switch (money grab I guess). Anyways the only negative I found with using the oe switch you can only run fogs with your low beams (full light system on) even if you turn your high beams on the fogs wi cut out. Iv been thinking strongly of using the switch and rely provided by spyder so I can have full control over the fog lights. Thanks for the post!
