35Kmi and time for brake pads replacement on my 2016 M3 S Touring. Aftermarket good brake pad and rotor selection for this generation of Mazda 3 is very poor vs, for example, current CX5 or previous generation Mazdas 3s. For the previous get M3 even Brembo blank rotors or Akebono pads are available...none for current gen M3 in the US (but some available in EU), very surprising...

Don't want to go OEM. OEM pads are ok, but not sure, if they are metal vs ceramic compound (did not take them off for closer inspection yet). OEM were braking well, but life span is short 35kmi vs pre gen M3, were ceramic Akebono lasted more, than 60 kmi with life still left. Prev gen M3, for example, only lasted 35kmi on OEM pads! Same situation here again.

I always do such easy service, as brake/rotor replacement myself, no dealer for a rush/ on a clock work.

I think, that I'm not alone.

What do you guys use for aftermarket brake/rotor options for current gen M3 assembled in Japan, not Mexico. Any good sources?

Thank you for good info.

For me in the past brake work often needs a lathe and as such its whatever the shop carries.

Unless you are envisaging motor racing application or lunatic street driving, any quality brand will suffice.

In Australia most aftermarket shops carry DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) discs, with Bendix or Ferodo Pads. If there's a very cheap disc/pad available I'd saty away from it - your rotors will possibly warp very quickly.

In Poland I use as aftermarket brakes, brake pads produced by TRW - which are of OEM quality (confirmed by mazda dealership). Front brake pads 250PLN ($65 american dollars). Rear brakes - same price.

If interested I can send you them directly form Poland. Shipping cost around $10 american dollars.
