I have a 2006 Mazda 3 and the AC cut out completely recently. Got outrageous quotes at local shops and no real diagnosis, so attempted to tackle the job myself. There was proper voltage going to the clutch, but the circuit for the old magnetic clutch was open (infinite resistance). So, bought a new magnetic clutch and installed that. At first, it worked great but made a horrible squealing noise....so loud that it startled pedestrians. I realized I missed a shim. Only put on 2 out of the 3.

So, rectified that and put on the third shim. The squealing noise is gone, but the AC hardly works now, and if it does, it's very intermittently.

Thinking about removing the 3rd shim and enduring the horrible noises because I live in Florida and it's 100 degrees every day! Can't handle it anymore.

Uploaded a video to YouTube but the forum won't let me share the link.

Ideas/Suggestions much appreciated!
