i have a 2013 Mazda 3 skyactiv, i am a young kid and i do like to push the car. I don't do it often but when I'm in the mood i like to push the car. when i bring the car to 6200-6300 RMP the car cuts out i lose all power and it just coasts, i have heard thing like carbon build up, fluty cats, etc. but i only have 10,000KM on my car
can any one tell me why it does this, and how to take this off
No I have the skyactiv I may sound like an uneducated person when it comes to cars but know my fair share, that and it came with a skyactiv badging, paper work, and engine bay cover.
The Sky-2.0 is too undersquare to rev to 8000+. However given the safety factors that Mazda designed into it (e.g. have you seen the AFR's?) I bet that you could go to 7000. With DT coming out soon with a Sky tuning flash I'm sure we'll start seeing the actual limits of the engine.
as much as it doesn't make sense to you, all of our mazdas do this and that is exactly what they are designed to do. they stop the rpm @ a certain limit so you don't hurt the engine
Custom can grinds aren't hard to make, just hard to get right. My Sky-2.0 in particular smacks the fuel cut pretty hard so I would appreciate another 500rpm to rev. That's completely unlike the bigger engines that slow down near redline.
i dont think it would be too good to rev past 6500 without any other timing mods and higher octane on the skyactiv ... the engine would already probly explode on its own without mazda's engineering and safeties lol
Rest assured. It's how the car is designed to behave. On my 2103 Mazda 3 Skyactiv, I often rev the engine to over 6K RPM in second gear trying to pass a car in suburb traffic. It's a pity that I have to shift up to 3rd before hitting 60 mph or the car will bounce off the rev limiter.
