So I am looking to get new tires before the winter. I know that 225/45/18 will fit without rubbing. Wondering if 235/45/18 will fit with no rub. Stock 18s and stock suspension. Thanks

235/45/18 is a really tall tire for the Mazda3 (26.3 inches)! I would not recommend that tire size at all.

You could do 235/40/18, which is about .1 inches smaller than stock 18s.

Or instead of 235s, could go with 225/45/18 (about .5 inches taller than stock 18s, and also a little wider).

I run 235/40/18 for summer and 225/40/18 for winter.

Hi, would the 235/40 r18 tires with 18x8.5 ET44 wheels don't rub the mazda3 skyactiv underneath? I plot the stock 18" wheels/tires vs aftermarket wheels/tires -- the new tires is about 4mm wider on the inner side of the wheel which is the only concern since I will retain stock suspension.... thanks!

Should be ok if offset is 44mm.

Since this topic has been brought back up I thought I would share. I changed gears after posting this question and bought a set of Mazda 6 19" wheels. They came with a new set of 235/40/19 tires. The 19's are actually nearly the exact size of the 235/45/18's. There is zero rubbing and the car rides just fine. My speedometer is off by 3%. Which means if I am traveling 100 mph my speedometer will be showing 97 mph. So that is a small difference that isn't really significant at all. So if someone has the same question it is answered here
