US details have been posted now. 2.0L has been dropped and it sound like the CD is more efficient now. Interestingly, the Canada press release mentioned that the 2.0L had enhancements to improve fuel efficiency.

Does anyone has any details into what they actually changed on the engine? does it just rev higher to achieve 5HP more or did they do any mechanical changes to have the torque on a wider band?

For 2023, the Mazda3 receives enhancements to the naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine, now capable of 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque with either regular 87 octane or premium 93 octane fuel. The updates result in a five horsepower increase and an increase in overall fuel efficiency.

The rpm for max HP/Torque didn't change so that was not the change. Unless they release further details we will not know.

All of the 2.5L models have CD in Canada except the two turbo offerings.. a manual with CD? Weird..

I have a '19 GT 2.5 MT with CD and it's fine. It does let itself be known when it's active on a smooth road. Introduces a bit of low frequency vibration in the car. Only I notice it, passengers don't. With the Corksport ABE, it does change tone quite noticeably also.

So apparently there were more changes than we were aware of: the 2023 models add a side impact airbag for each outboard backseat, and have changes to the B-pillar and "shin guards" in the doors, likely to better address the really tough new IIHS side impact test standard.

Any cost cutting identified on 2023 Mazda3? one thing I've noticed is the removal of the cover for cupholders (same on CX-30).
Not sure if this was removed on 2023 or earlier (my 2019 has it).
