Good day, I have a 2016 Mazda 3 2.0l Hatchback and I have ordered a corksport short air intake however it is not CARB or CO certified not are any like K&N in California. I am looking for one that is legal for use in California. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's a pretty simple install. You just need a deep socket set, socket wrench, and a flathead screwdriver (if my memory is correct).

The K&N adds a nice deep growl. I had it on my 2.5L, but switched it for an AEM kit that is CARB legal for the Mazda 6 (same engine as my car.. so.. sort of legal). It has less growl, but it works with the OEM air scoop thing that sits just under the hood in front and does a good job at keeping the IAT lower.

The AEM 21-779C Performance Cold Air Intake System produces horsepower and torque gains by replacing your vehicle's restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. This air intake system was designed, tuned and dyno-tested to fit specific Mazda 6 models. Air enters the system through an oversized AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration and performance. The air filter is located in the original air box space and is protected by a heat shield which is designed to reduce intake air temperature and increase horsepower. The air intake tube is constructed from mandrel-bent aluminum featuring a durable gunmetal gray powder coated finish. This air intake system was developed to accommodate the engine's factory emissions control devices including the mass airflow sensor and breather tube. The tapered cylinder shaped AEM Dryflow air filter is made from an oil-free, synthetic filter media that can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed (depending on driving conditions). The air intake system is easy to install with commonly available tools and it is backed by AEM's Lifetime Limited Warranty. Some AEM air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards, while others are 50 state legal. View the 21-779C vehicle applications to determine the legal status for each vehicle.

AEM's Performance Cold Air Intake Systems are designed, tuned and dyno-tested to give your engine more power and acceleration by replacing the restrictive factory air filter, air intake tubing and air box assembly.

Cold Air Induction System; Gunmetal Gray; Incl. Dryflow Air Filter/Alum. Tubing/Clamps; Estimated 7 HP Gain @ 2700 RPM;

Got it, thanks. I guess what I'm not seeing is how the top of the box is sealed, such that the ram air can't escape into the engine compartment. I see the bulb seal along the upper edge of the airbox, but what does it seal against? I guess I'll just have to try to see one of these installations in person.
