Hello everyone I hope I have come to right place. This is my first post and thread but I hope to add to the community as I dig into this recent purchase. :smile2:

I have discovered conflicting information as to how I can bring this model to the beloved Android Auto support. So far I can ascertain the following (please correct me where I am wrong ). Considering the 2014-15 has top of dash style navigation systems/lack there of as in my case with a GX. So as I am to understand it my top of the dash navi system is very limited.

In fact all the most desired navi systems that people have today come in "din" standard of some sort with a "double din" of course providing the most available capacity on the market at any available aftermarket standard. Or at least that how I am aware of this market functioning.

Now because I really want to change my navi system as I full-on hate the thing. Money, time and skill are not the obstacles for me atm. I merely need to know what I can do and which options are futile endeavors.

We all agree I still have options correct? Here are the ones that I can identify, please respond with more and/or better options if they are indeed available. For me and anyone else in this dilemma. Keeping mind that perhaps there are newer choices available today in 2018 that you might not be aware of.

1) I can purchase a factory Mazda 3 Information Display Screen : PN : Bhp1 61 1j0d

like this present ebay listing for 274 including the console control module for a 2016.

can't post links yet :(

What other components are needed to bring the navigation console to to the gx if any as seen in this picture so I don't have to rip everything apart to see I have to order other parts in addition too the BHP1-61-1J0D i'm dying to know.

Can't post links yet. :(

Also I might need to know more conclusively if indeed this is the best Android Auto option today as I was reading this week that it may finally be ready for RETROACTIVE upgrade which should include such a mod that I would have done with a firmware update.

2) Use the Seicane s30940 (are there others their site makes it look like there are?) that is also seemingly hard to get your hands on today due to stock issues?! Although it would seem that this model would have less support and more glitchy interface including many extra features such as dashcam, dvr,sd card, Tire Pressure Monitoring, OBD and other quickly produced and perhaps a glitchy interface? With only MHL screen mirroring for android auto draining the battery on most phones extremely quickly? This btw is only what I suspect evidence would be needed to conclude this. Please anyone pipe up on that one.

3) UBER generic brand CarNaviPlayer .com ?!? Seriously, well I guess so as there is nothing else anyone know about this ?

Can't post links yet :(

*4) An unknown or even fully original startup option (dreaming i'm sure).

*5) My favorite option MOVE THE bloody Thermo/A/C fan Component and get Double Din... Likely full on impossible but I would try it if someone had even a brief guide and a nod that it can be done. From one of the greats on the forum : 0:) :x

*- denotes likely impossible :wink2:

Thanks to anyone who wants help.

The carnaviplayer and seicane units appear to be based off the same platform, just with slightly different cases, and one has more storage. Other than that, they're running the same version of android and the same CPU so should be similar unless you find yourself running out of storage space on the unit.

Ultimately though, what you do is entirely a matter for you to decide and depends on what experience you want. I personally wouldn't replace mine with one of those android units, but thats because I do have a higher than base model with the genuine CMU already, and it controls some of the features settings which would otherwise be harder to handle without the CMU to change things.

You can, but it's expensive. This used kit for ~$650.

Then you want the speakers etc on top of that.
Although you might be right I presume you have overlooked the fact that the display is in fact internationally interchangeable. So I have found it on its own for 160 Euro shipped to Canada/ US PO Box.

Now from what I can tell I have a CMU unit don't I, in a GX ? If not that will be the biggest chore to replace. . This part I am not sure about would love to know without having to dismantle everything to check.

Optical drive is the same, right, unless it's a dvd rom, I don't really need that anyhow.

And lastly the TMU unit, and control module. Are they 2 different pieces ? Has anyone done this? Seems simple and I don't need the speakers or anything other just eventually Android Auto and i'm happy with my mazda on a 12000 dollar budget :)...

Thanks all

Interesting can I add a CMU and Display screen (any other parts you know of that I need?)

Can I make my GX a GX + Display screen+CMU ?

Thanks so much everyone else was silent ;)
Most people are silent because this is not a simple answer and the vast majority have never considered doing it (or they don't have this car). The first step is to get the service manual/electrical wiring drawings for your car. You are going to need a number of part numbers only those will show you - if it can be done. Internal wiring harnesses in your car and if they will adapt to the additional electronics will be shown on the drawings. It may be you will have to fabricate your own harness adapters. What do the dealer or audio shops have to say about this? If they won't even touch it or the cost is exorbitant that tells you something.

If you don't have the screen today, you don't have the CMU. The CMU is the expensive part, retails for over $1000 if I remember correct.
Then you need to ensure you have the wiring, control center piece etc.

Look it up on a parts website, it's all there, https://www.onlinemazdaparts.com/.

HMMmmm welll I was about to throw in the towel until I found

https://www.ebay.com/p/14-16-Mazda-3-Bhp1-66-DRXB-Auto-Video-Tuner-Control-Unit-Module/562419328

It seems like the part I need for a mere 100 dollars ? I just ordered the lcd shipped to my house for $42 USD. So this seems great so far. I know I will need more components though such as that control wheel, and the tau, cables and housing.

So there is a list of things I will need. Anyone out there persume how what I will need and/or any other things to consider going into purchase / upgrade. Please SPEAK NOW !! and I might even BUY YOU A BEER AND SAY THANKS !
