Here's the story. When I tried to start my 2015 Mazda 3 one afternoon it was fully dead, no lights, no crank, dead. So I assumed it was the battery, popped the hood and the terminals and posts were very corroded. I cleaned them off and attached my battery charger, the battery was fully charged. So I tried to start the car again and all the lights on the dash started flashing, the speedometer was going back and forth erratically, lots of clicking noises coming from the engine bay and the of course it didn't crank. Went back under the hood and I noticed the terminals were very loose, I could pop them off with barely any force. I took both terminals off and started cleaning them and noticed the corrosion had eaten all the way through the positive terminal so it couldn't tighten on to the post at all. The positive terminal is attached to a red plastic piece with fuses in it I later found out is called a fuse block. The nut that attached the terminal to the fuse block was basically fused with rust and corrosion and I couldn't break it loose with the tools I have so I took off the fuse block with the terminal attached and called the dealership to order new ones. This happened on Thursday before the 4th of July and the parts supplier was closed all weekend so the parts wouldn't arrive until Tuesday. So the car sat with the battery disconnected for 5 days. Of course the terminal came in on time but the fuse block was backordered so I brought the old fuse block in and had them break the terminal loose for me and picked up the new terminal. Got home, cleaned the fuse block and battery posts, got rid of all the corrosion, attached the new terminal to the fuse block and attached that to the battery very securely. Car started right up, no problem, I drove it around the block, everything seemed fine.

The next day when I'm running an errand I noticed the heat/ac fan and the blinkers aren't working. The blinkers do that fast click like a bulb is out and the AC works because I can feel cold air if the car is moving but the fan isn't running. The weird thing is the hazards work, all the lights flash, totally normal. All other electronics in the car work normally as well, wipers, windows, radio, headlights, brake lights. I figured it might be a fuse so I checked and it looks like there is only one fuse for the hazards and the blinkers and that fuse was fine. I couldn't seem to find a fuse for the fan.

I read an older post on this forum about someone having a similar issue and a commenter mentioned disconnecting the battery for 10 mins to reset any faults and the op said it worked so I'm going to try that later. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and has any additional ideas? Thanks in advance.

The blinkers and the fan did not work. But all is well, I disconnected the battery for 10 mins and fixed everything. Thanks anyways.
Thank you so much for posting this. We had the same problem with a 2014 Mazda 3 no AC fan and no turn signals after a battery replacement at batteries plus and were able to solve it by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. The Mazda dealer wanted $160 to do a diagnostic so you saved us a bunch. Thanks again.
