On my 2005 Mazda3 Hatchback, under the rear storage floor was a nice sturdy piece that had various recessed nooks where I could store lots of stuff (e.g. first aid kit, jumper cables, tire pump, etc.)

But on my new 2015 Hatchback, there's a big Styrofoam piece around the spare that wastes a lot of space around there. Does anyone know of a sturdy aftermarket replacement that could utilize the space better. For now, I've stuffed things in the spare tire recesses, but most of what I used to have there won't fit.

For what it's worth, this is what I do.

First aid kit goes in the left-side well.

Warning triangle (folding) fits in the gap between the Styrofoam and wheelwell. European countries have a holder with the vehicle jack on the right side.

I use run-flat tires during the summer, so I remove the spare entirely. This leaves plenty of space underneath. During the winter, the spare goes back in but there's enough space in the periphery of the spare to squeeze in some basic tools.
