Let me clarify by saying it appears my alternator from a charging standpoint seems okay. I have a 2013 Mazda 3 and just got a new battery. My complaint for years to Mazda was that when I brake hard, turn the steering wheel or trigger the window motors when they're already all the way up, the lights (headlights, interior lights) DIM considerably. I can easily reproduce this with a multimeter. I hook it up and let the car idle, battery reads about 14.2, turn the steering wheel slightly, boom, goes down to 12.3, let go of the steering wheel, goes back up to 14.2v. Same thing with the power window switches, brings the voltage down to 12. something. It's really noticable when driving at night going around winding roads. A couple years ago Mazda did a "software" update to my car that was supposed to "fix" this issue... It didn't do a thing. I have basically just lived with it. Am I dealing with a piss poor alternator? No heated seats or crazy sound system BTW.
