Are your rear wheels sagging inward? Gen 2 tend to have bushing sagg due to "spirited driving" or just how it was designed. It was more noticable.
When you have excess negative camber(excess can be just outside of tolerance) the end links aren't tensioned as much. The ride height is a tad lower. Left to right distance is shorter. They tend to clunk alot, even when the usual suspected parts were replaced.
The clunk is due to the range of motion not being equalized from the other side. It oscillate between high and low limit...
This can due to various things, control arm bushing, radius arm bushing.. All them bushing that's old and saggy...
Or poor suspension setup.
