I own a 2012 Mazda 3 with Skyactiv. The car has 38,000 miles on it. A few days ago my transmission started acting up. When I put the car into reverse it pauses for about 2-3 seconds and then engages smoothly. All of the other gears shift just fine. Any ideas on what is causing this problem? My assumption is that the fluid might be low.

Also I cannot locate the ATF Dipstick. Any advice on where it is located? I've heard a lot of people say that the transmission is sealed and doesn't have a dipstick.

Ok thanks I'll take a look. Any idea what is causing it to all of a sudden start to have a problem engaging?

I really am not sure, but checking the fluid would be a good place to start. If the fluid is all good then bringing it in might be your best bet because it could probably be anything from a sensor to the torque converter. I would only be guessing/ speculating though. Hope you get it straightened out.
