I'm looking at picking up a new head unit so that I can run Android Auto, but to take full advantage of that I need to install a working (data-enabled) USB port to somewhere in my car, I'm thinking on replacing the cigarette lighter in the center console.

The female USB input included with the HeadUnit (Sony XAV-AX5000) I'm looking at is 59" so that should be more than enough to snake through the console into the armrest
From there I would need a replacement adapter to fit into the cigarette lighter socket, which I have not been able to find

Has anyone here done this? Or routed a USB somewhere else in the car? I'd really appreciate any pointers from people that have been down this road

I’ve seen a video of someone drilling a hole inside the glove department and having the usb in there.

Here’s the video https://youtu.be/xKTPGrd5pjo
