2006 Mazda 3, 2.0L 5spd auto.

Only way I can describe it is when I'm turning hard into a corner and try to put some power down nothing happens it sort of feels like it's cutting the revs until I straighten the wheels a bit more.

I've tried to Google about it but can't seem to find anything, is this a common problem or is it some sort of "feature"?

Could be the traction control working on an inside wheel trying to spin.

For '06-'09 models, the 2.0L was the base model Mazda 3i, and I don't believe this model came with traction control. I could be wrong.

Definitely does not have traction control

Very uncommon issue, unless the gas tank is less than 1/4
Has just over half a tank so it's can't be that issue.

Any issues with left/right front drive axles?
Nope none, it sort of seems like the computer senses the wheels being at a certain turning degree and wont allow you to accelerate anymore until you've straightened up.

Definitely doesn't have traction control, it will spin in the wet until 3rd gear, I'm sure if it had traction control it would kick in by then.
