Hey folks, I've searched through the forums and haven't been able to find any posts in regards to the 2.5L emblem.

I've got a 2017 Sport GT model in Canada. To make mine a bit more unique, I was trying to find online if there is a 2.5L badge that could be added to the back of my hatch to make it just a bit different. I've not been able to confirm if the Font utilized for 2.5L badge from the 2nd gen is the same as the Mazda 3 badge on the 2014-17s?

Any info on sourcing this, or at least confirming 2nd gen's 2.5 badge's font are the same?

Can not help your directly if you want to have a 2.5 badge/emblem, but as an alternative as all GT's are 2.5L (at least in the U.S), here's what I bought off eBay for $5 (including shipping). It will barely cover the three mounting holes which are used on the hatch's rear fascia to mount the Mazda's "letter badge." I plan to remove the Mazda "letter badge" and place this GT emblem, thus cover those holes (after filling them with some RTV gasket, silicone or similar).

But perhaps you might wish to leave the Mazda letters and just additionally mount this GT badge? It is 3" wide and approx 3/5" high; as you can see the letters themselves are recessed slightly.

Below is the link and the shipping label says, "Speed Daddy", 801 S Sentous St, City of Industry, CA 91748

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201231302923; the descriptor on eBay listed it as: Metal Grill Trunk Emblem Decal Logo Trim Badge, Polished Black Lettering GT

Found this better picture, though please note that the horizontal shadow lines on the top and bottom are not on the product itself (just picture eflections from the chrome's curvature shininess).

I've long since researched this. The font is different. The Gen II has a more "curvy" font and Gen III has a more italicized blocky font. I never did find a 2.5 badge I liked, but best thing I can recommend is hop on ebay and type "2.5 emblem badge" and see if you like any of those

If you're trying to find something more GenIII font-ish, this pic shows you what the "2" looks like in GenIII font. Maybe you could find something similar via ebay?

EDIT: The closest 2.5 badge I could find is the 2.5 badge that Audi does. The other one I found was a VW 2.5 badge, but the "2" is slightly different. I think I like the Audi 2.5 badge, I just wish it was "italicized" or "swept" a little more -- it's pretty much standing straight up

Cool thanks for the info. This is what I expected after the research I had done. I'm going to see if I can mock up a 3d printer model, chrome print it and 3M tape it to get a closely matched one. Have a bud who knows a guy with a decent 3d printer. It'll be some time before I tackle this because of school, but I'll update if I make any progress

Never considered the GT badge. Thanks for the info, definitely something else to keep in mind.

Found two more badges last night that I am considering now -- though neither is a 2.5L badge OP is looking for, however, by going to both Amazon and eBay, there are many 2.5 badge/emblem options. Hopefully, one will appeal to you turbonium911. Here's one of them:

https://www.amazon.com/Chrome-Black...TF8&qid=1485659393&sr=8-6&keywords=2.5l+badge

I am committed to removing chrome on the rear of my hatch, and thus for me the above GT badge would need painting, and probably need be painted two different colors to emphasize the slightly-recessed "GT" letters. However, if one wants, there is a similar badge but the "GT" letters are either in a light red or a blue.

Re the two other badges I am considering, while I would prefer not to put a "mazdaspeed" badge on my car (as it is not one), the fact that neither of the following have chrome, are ridiculously cheap on eBay, have me thinking more about this. So two more options for me, both that will meet my other primary requirement that any badge must cover the three holes that removing the Mazda letters will expose (and I will not pay the $300 my body shop said they would charge me to fill in the holes and re-paint the rear fascia Soul Red).

They following two metal emblems are both on eBay, found by using the search words: "black mazdaspeed emblem." They are BTW, also available with a silver/non-black background.

The more options the better...

Hot damn! That's definitely it! I'm guessing that's on Aliexpress, I believe I found it there using the same title keywords. Thanks a bunch!

Though it isn't exactly the same as the "Mazda 3" text, it shows putting it over the skyactive is not going look asymmetrical across the back. I'm going to order it and see how it fits. $5.00 is a pittance in case it doesn't work.

is this what you're looking for

Okie dokie, so I wanted to do some more research on this. It's something I wanted earlier in 2016, but I just didn't know the different fonts and right things to search for.

So here's what I found now that I have had a little more time to invest. I was hunting for the blocky italicized letters. Which you'd think would be easy to come by, but not really when it comes to a close font to what Mazda uses.

So I found a "2.5L" for a VW (I think Passat). It's italicized and the "5" is VERY close to the same font on the CX-5 (as mentioned by a member earlier in this thread). Now there's plenty of GT badges out there that are italicized, but none of which make me say, "If a Mazda designer were going to make a GT badge, this is probably what it'd be close to" until the other day! I saw a new Hyundai Elantra GT and I was like, well holy crap, THAT'S the one!

See photo below. I bought them and I'm in the possession of them. I cut the "L" off of 2.5L because it was colored red. So here's what it'll look like once I slap it on the car in the Spring. I'm just gonna take the SkyActive badge off and replace it with this. You'll see the "GT" is slightly larger than the 2.5, but they're both blocky italicized and I'm pretty sure they're gonna do the trick! woot woot
