I have a 2007 with a blown 2.3..rod knock and burning oil. I picked up a 2.0l from a 2011 for cheap. It looks like it will fit.. does anyone know if it will be okay with the 2.3l ECU? Or will I need to do an entire harness and fuse box swap to put the 2.0 ecu in?

All the connections appear to be the same by visual.

Yeah you do need a new ecu, the engine will have different timing, clearances and distribution of fuel and air. Pretty sure the 2l isn't part of the Mazda L series like the L3 ve is in the 2.3L

Hey! Sorry for the super late reply. Just wanted to post what the outcome was..

So pulled all the sensors and the intake off the 2.3 and swapped them onto the 2.0. it runs great and idles no problem.

I do get one code however. Saying that is it running too lean.. not sure that I really care as this is a commuter vehicle. Any thoughts? I might just go grab a 2.0l ecu and plug it in to see what it does.
