Hey guys, how's it going? Just got an 07' Mazda 3 GT 2.3L. My first car, having a lot of fun with it. I've had it for a few days and noticed that 1st and 2nd gear have a sort of high pitch whine when it's running. Is this normal? Anything I can check to diagnose what the problem may be? Or should I bring it in to a mechanic just to have it checked out. Thanks a bunch, I appreciate it. Cheers

Is it an automatic transmission or a standard shift? Knowing the type of transmission will help diagnose if its a true issue or not.

Thanks! It's been a ton of fun.
It's a standard. I'm not sure if I'm just low on some fluid, or something in the transmission is wearing out.

It probably wouldn't hurt to change the transmission fluid. I don't know much about the first gen 3's but I have never heard of them having common transmission issues. Does it take more effort/force to put the car in first or second compared to the other gears? maybe just worn synchros?
