It is not distracting. They are lit in my '14 sGT. My thought is if you have controls on the steering wheel they should light up because then they are totally useless at night. We all know how dark it is in this car at night.
The light level is low enough to not be distracting, but it is enough so that you can see what you're doing. Most of the steering wheel controls are second nature now but it's still good to have the backlighting there.
It does seem like the door controls could have been lit, but I don't typically need them while moving at night.

On another note, my car is white and I'm thinking about getting colored wheels. Something...
Today I had my steering wheel replaced.
And that's after ~15000-18000 km only. At first, dealer said that it's not a warranty issue, and importer declined the replacement.
Then I sent an email to Mazda Europe and wrote a post on Facebook, tagging Mazda dealer, Mazda Japan...
Anyone know how I could make my headlights come on with the DRL's like they do on the 2017-2018? I hate the weak halo, and just want something to detract from the empty void left between the two LED lines during the day.
It's been a while, I hope everybody is safe and healhy.
I did some research but I'm not 100% although they look the same size. Can the exterior 4th Gen Door Applique (Black Glossy Trim) be installed on a 3rd Gen?
Perhaps somebody has done this kind of retrofit and could advise...
