Hello,

So I was wondering how easy is it to change the 12V outlet from an always on outlet to one that is only turned on with the car?
I have a dash cam installed but it will only stop recording if the power is shut off. otherwise it will stay on and drain the battery.

If it isnt too much of a challenge, what would be the best approach to changing it?

Thanks!

The amount of work of cutting the outlet wire from its current fuse and connecting it to an ignition fuse is more than just using an add a fuse to hardwire the dashcam from the ignition fuse.

It is actually pretty easy if you understand wiring. All you need to do is pull the fuse on the always-on circuit and add a fused jumper to a switched bus.
If you have the skills and knowledge to do it, that's all the explanation you need. I won't provide more because there's a million boneheads on the innernets, and some day one of them will burn up his car with it.
