I have 215/45R-18 and they ok but I was thinking of swapping to a 225/50R-17 setup for slightly less harsh ride and at the same time a tad wider. I would imagine they should fit but not 100% sure. Anybody running a 225/50R17 on their Mazda 3 GT?

I recently got hooked up with some 215/50R17 tires. Mazda recommends that we use 205/50R17. From what my research leads me to believe is that the 215 are just one centimeter taller. I'm posting here to ask, would there be any adverse effects to my car by using a slightly larger tire?
