Does a coolant drain and fill (unscrew drain plug, drain, screw in drain plug, fill up radiator) introduce a bunch of air to the system? If so, how do I go about getting rid of the air in the cooling system?

Can we do the TB coolant bypass on our cars? I noticed my tb doesn't get as hot as my 2006 Mazda 3, so I wonder if the tb is heated. Even after lots of driving, it's luke warm at best, but then again it's cold outside.
